What the college says
A demanding Level 2 course designed for students interested in applying to join any uniformed service. As with the Level 1 course, subjects are designed to provide and develop essential skills, fitness levels and knowledge for public service employment. Visits, outdoor pursuits and attending events are compulsory parts of the course for which you will have to make a financial contribution. This course can also provide access to the Level 3 Extended Diploma in Public Services.
What you need to get on
4 GCSEs grade D or above including English. BTEC Introductory Certificate or Diploma, appropriate NVQ Level 1, or another relevant Level 1 or Foundation qualification including Level 1 Functional Skills English. You will have a pre-induction interview/assessment to make sure this is the right level for you.
How you are assessed
Learning a trade with tools and equipment, often in a college workshop or salon.
What this level means
The GCSE-equivalent step, and the usual route into Level 3.
