What's it all about? The BTEC First Certificate course aims to provide an introduction to the construction industry including health and safety, mathematics, construction methods and operations. This course will enable you to progress your career into areas such as architecture, quantity surveying, civil engineering and building services engineering. Many of these jobs combine office based activities with on-site visit to projects and building sites. What skills and qualities do I need? What you need to get on
All applicants will attend an information day. You will then be invited to attend an interview. You will need a Level 1 BTEC Introductory Certificate or Diploma and/or 4 GCSEs at grade A*-F to including English, mathematics and science.
How you are assessed
One subject in depth, assessed largely through coursework and projects.
What this level means
The GCSE-equivalent step, and the usual route into Level 3.
Is it open to 16 to 18 year olds?
