What the college says
This one-year course will provide the foundation required to get you set for an exciting career in the science industry. This course is perfect if you have a passion for problem solving and investigation and a good eye for detail. You will learn about topics including principles of applied science, chemistry and our earth, energy and our universe, biology and our environment, health applications of life science and much more. The course will support you in developing the key personal, technical and professional skills you need to get ahead, whether you want to progress to the Level 3 course, an Apprenticeship or onto employment in your chosen sector.
What you need to get on
4 GCSE passes at a minimum of Grade 3, or a Level 1 BTEC which must include a Grade 3 in English Language or Literature and Maths.
How you are assessed
Learning a trade with tools and equipment, often in a college workshop or salon.
What this level means
The GCSE-equivalent step, and the usual route into Level 3.
