What the college says
Ready to take your skills to the next level? If you've already completed the Bronze course, the Junior Chefs Academy - Silver Level is your chance to build on everything you've learned and take your culinary confidence to new heights. Open to young chefs aged 11–15, this course offers a deeper dive into the world of professional cookery. You’ll continue to develop your knife skills, improve your ability to multi-task in the kitchen, and refine your techniques in boiling, steaming, frying, baking and more. Under the guidance of expert chefs, you’ll work in our industry-standard kitchens while maintaining high levels of health and safety, learning what it’s really like to cook in a professional environment. As part of your journey, you’ll explore a variety of cultural capital cuisines from countries such as Mexico, Greece, and Italy, helping you expand your knowledge and understanding of international flavours. On your first session, you’ll be measured for your chef uniform, which will be ordered from our professional supplier, Russums. Thanks to generous funding from the Savoy Educational Trust, the usual £80 fee has been fully waived - your chef whites and all ingredients are included free. Remember to bring a sealed container so you can take home your freshly prepared dishes to enjoy with your family. Your culinary journey culminates in a graduation dinner and awards ceremony held in our Horizons restaurant. You’ll prepare and serve a two-course evening meal for your guests
