This course will give you the practical skills and knowledge you need to get no just one, but two recognised qualifications (body repair and painting refinishing), giving you the best possible start for a career in the repair and refinishing industry. This is a practical, hands on course, and you'll get to work with the latest vehicles and industry standard resources. Using our outstanding facilities and equipment you will develop skills in all aspects of vehicle body repair and paint refinishing. You will also gain a broad knowledge and understanding of the different job roles in the Automotive industry. What will I study? -The course will give you the technical skills needed by today's motor vehicle repair industry, including diagnosis and rectification procedures for accident damage and paint rectification. You will study theory and practical aspects of: -Body Units -Removing and Fitting Non-Permanently Fixed Motor Vehicle Body Panels -Removing and Replacing Exterior Motor Vehicle Panels Including Permanently Fixed Components -Minor Motor Vehicle Exterior Body Panel Repairs -Motor Vehicle Body MIG/MAG Welding Techniques -Motor Vehicle Body Resistance Spot Welding Operations. Paint Units: -Tools and Equipment used in Vehicle Refinishing -Applying Fillers and Foundation Materials -Preparing Metal and Pre-Painted Surfaces -Repairing Minor Paint Defects -Vehicle Body Adhesive Bonding Operations You can also take up work experience in the industry to further enhance your employ

What you need to get on

How will I be assessed? -You will be assessed throughout the programme by use of practical assessments within our workshops and also via assessments. You will also need to build a portfolio of evidence that will be submitted to the awarding body at the end of the programme. How will I be taught? -You will be taught in our state of the art workshops working on the latest vehicles supported by tutors with years of industrial experience. The majority of this programme will be in the workshops working on vehicles and within the body and paint shops. Qualifications Needed: -Level 1 Body and Repair or a good level of practical experience and an interview. You will need to sit an initial assessment in numeracy and literacy, and demonstrate that you are capable of working at Level 2. How you are assessed

Two-year technical qualification with a 45-day industry placement. Equivalent to three A levels.

What this level means

The GCSE-equivalent step, and the usual route into Level 3.
