History is a fascinating subject that allows students to immerse themselves in previous time periods to discover how mankind used to live and why our world today is the way it is. The subject is particularly suited to students with an analytical and inquisitive mind as well as those who enjoy debating and justifying their own opinions on topics as diverse as Henry VIII and the Reformation to Stalin’s Russia. There are three separate units that the students will cover: The Tudors 1485-1603, Revolution and Dictatorship in Russia 1917 – 1929 and Civil Rights in America 1865-1968. The Tudor and Russia modules will be assessed by an exam at the end of Year 13. The module on Civil Rights in America is a coursework module in which students produce a 4,000 word essay which is submitted at the end of Year 13.

Five grade 5's at GCSE, including English (Langage or Literature)

How you are assessed

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
