In Year 12 students study the early Tudors, looking at how Henry VII consolidated his reign and the dramatic impact Henry VIII had on England at the time. The second Year 12 course studies The Russian Revolution, looking at its causes as well as detailed study of the 1917 itself and Lenin?s subsequent changes to the country. Year 13 (starting September 2019) builds upon these courses by studying the mid and late Tudors, the religious conflicts, rebellions and Golden Age, and how Stalin ruled Russia through his ruthless repression, rapid industrialisation and his devastating agricultural policies. Students also complete a piece of coursework on Germany 1871-1991, which is self-studied and has many different options. This really gives them the opportunity to develop their independent learning skills ahead of University. We encourage some students to also think beyond this Germany topic and take on an alternative time period of their choice.

What you need to get on

Grade 6 in GCSE History. If you have not studied GCSE History, a grade 6 in English Language and evidence of a strong interest in History will be required.

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
