History AS/A Level compromises of a mixture of British and International History. The course examines the conflicts, rights, and freedoms of several historical periods and allows students to examine interpretations and the ideas behind them. There is one coursework element, which allows students to explore one historical period of their choice. Progress from the AS/A2 could include higher education courses, such as degrees in history or in related subjects such as politics, English literature, law, philosophy, economics or journalism. There is also a wide range of careers in areas such as the media, education, libraries, national and local government and the civil service.

What you need to get on

At least 5 4-9 GCSE grades (or A*-C legacy GCSE grades) with a minimum of 5 or above in GCSE History

How you are assessed

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
