Hard work, good organisation and good written self-expression are important skills in the study of History. Students who like to argue, to debate and to challenge ideas, while justifying their own, will also do well. A level History requires students to recall, select and deploy knowledge, communicating it accurately and clearly in writing. They will also be taught to understand, interpret, analyse and evaluate source material and provide historical explanation and substantiated judgements.

What you need to get on

6 in GCSE History preferable. Grade 6 in GCSE English if never studied History at GCSE.

How you are assessed

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
