What the college says

The course covers two main elements which are covered in both the AS and A2 exam: The Making of Modern Britain 1951-2007; The Age of the Crusades 1071-1204. The A-level coursework will be an investigation of an historical issue chosen by students based on the study of Twentieth Century Russia 1905-2005. Students will be expected to show the use of historical sources and reach a reasoned conclusion on their chosen question. The study will be expected to be about 3,500 words and submitted to the exam board by the 1st of April in the year of the examination.

What you need to get on

Students should achieve at least a grade 6 at GCSE and grade 6 in English language or literature. In addition students must have a subject teacher recommendation.

How you are assessed

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
