In Year 12 students are guided carefully through the transition from GCSE to A-level and they are encouraged to adopt a much more independent approach towards their studies. In Year 13 students develop critical insights into the contemporary society and culture of countries where German is spoken. The development of these skills, together with their knowledge and understanding of the structure of the language, lay foundations for future study of German or of other languages at University.

What you need to get on

Entry into the Sixth Form requires six passes at GCSE Level (Grades 9-5) including English and at least a Grade 4 in Maths. This course requires Grade 6 in German GCSE (a high Grade 5 will be considered).

How you are assessed

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
