What the college says

Geography helps you make sense of the world around you. It tackles the big issues of environmental responsibility, global independence, cultural understanding and development on a range of topics from both physical and human geography. The world in which we live is likely to change more in the next 50 years than it has ever done before. Geography explains why and helps to prepare you for those changes. The transferable skills which Geography teaches are invaluable in preparing you for the world of work. Geographers are among the most employable people! Geography provides opportunities through fieldwork, for first hand investigation of places, environments and human behaviour. Geography builds a knowledge and understanding of current events, local and global, as well as developing skills for the future. Geography jobs include the Police force, Armed services, Teaching and Meteorology. This course is linear which means that students sit all their exams at the end of the 2 year course. Students will complete mock exams in the summer term of year 12. Students have to complete a minimum of 2 days field work in both year 12 and year 13 on both physical and human Geography.
