AS English Literature has an excellent reputation as an academic and challenging subject. An AS/A Level in English Literature proves that you have good analytical and interpretive skills. It tells employers and universities that you have the skills to present a written argument This course is for you if you have ever had these thoughts: • I enjoyed studying books, plays and poems for GCSE. • I love reading. • I enjoy discussing texts with other people who appreciate Literature. • I find it fascinating to explore writers’ ideas about important issues. • I enjoy close analysis to explore how a writer uses language and form. • I would enjoy an A Level subject which allows me to develop insight and strong communication skills. • I am interested in exploring the influences which contribute to the writing of a text.

What you need to get on

It is essential that you achieve a Grade 6 in English Language and English Literature. In addition you should also have achieved a minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade 9-4 or equivalent including Maths.

How you are assessed

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
