Much of our life is dominated by consuming, talking about and using the media. The media industry is one of the largest and most varied industries in the world with a huge diversity of employment opportunities. From the internet, television and music to video games, social media and advertising, our contemporary academic course will help you understand the relevance and importance of the media in our lives today. The course integrates theoretical and practical approaches to the media through a blend of coursework and exam assessment.You will develop knowledge and understanding of key aspects of the theoretical framework - media language and representation � as an essential basis for analysing media products from a variety of forms. The texts you will study include Peaky Blinders for TV, Sam Fender for music videos, Black Panther for films, and some of the latest social media influencers. Advertising and marketing campaigns, magazines, newspapers and video games are also studied on the course. This subject works successfully with Film Studies, English Literature, English Language, Sociology and Criminology.
What you need to get on
You will need 5 GCSEs at grade 4-9, including English Language.
How you are assessed
Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.

The A-level-equivalent step, and what universities and employers ask for.
