There is a saying: “A man who speaks two languages is two men”. Mastering another language enables you to become acquainted with another way of thinking and another culture. Apart from the purely practical benefits for business, social life and leisure, having another language is a personally enriching one. Over the two years of the course, you will develop your ability to speak and write in French/Spanish, as well as to understand the spoken and written forms of the language. You will also develop your cultural knowledge of the countries in which the language is spoken, and have an opportunity to discuss topical issues relevant to these countries.

What you need to get on

Minimum entry requirement to the Arthur Terry 6th form: Gaining a minimum 33 points from a minimum of 7 GCSEs which must include English Language and Maths with a minimum point score of 4. Individual subject entry requirements must follow the Pathway entry requirements table also available on the Arthur Terry School website. Up to 2 BTEC/OCR National qualifications at Level 2 Merit can be used for 6th form entry. Each BTEC will count as 1 of the 7 GCSE grades Minimum subject entry requirements: 6 in GCSE Spanish and 5 in GCSE English Language or Literature
