You will build upon the topics that you studied at GCSE but the onus is now upon you to argue and debate your own point of view. You will read materials from the Spanish press, watch Spanish TV and DVDs, listen to Spanish podcasts and use the internet. Grammar is taught intensively during Term 1 to strengthen your knowledge of the language. It is then revisited throughout the 2-year course.

What you need to get on

Five 9-5 grades including English and Maths plus 6 or above at GCSE Spanish and 5 or above in English Language.

How you are assessed

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.

The A-level-equivalent step, and what universities and employers ask for.
