You will develop the range of knowledge and skills acquired at GCSE level and therefore use Spanish in a wide range of contexts. Most of all you will learn to communicate at a higher level and have the opportunity to discuss ideas while justifying and illustrating your point of view. You will gain a useful insight into another culture and reflect on various aspects of contemporary society. Expectations are high and you will be expected to carry out independent reading, listening, and viewing in the target language, and regularly access the news via the Internet to improve your reading and listening skills.

What you need to get on

Students should have gained at least a Grade 6 in either English Literature or Language, and at least a Grade 7 in Spanish at GCSE, as well as having a strong interest in speaking the language.

How you are assessed

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
