Music A level is a broad and challenging course ideal for anyone who has enjoyed GCSE Music and wants to further build their skills across the areas of performing, composing and appraising. Specialising in performance or composition gives the opportunity to hone skills, but a diverse range of appraisal work, from Sondheim to Haydn, ensures detailed and enjoyable analysis and listening content. Students are expected to take a full part in Music Department activities and there are many opportunities to conduct, arrange music and lead ensembles for those who wish to.

What you need to get on

Students are required to achieve a 5 or above at GCSE Music to be eligible to join the course. Performance is a required component so the ability to play an instrument or sing is also essential.

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
