This course is ideal for students who are curious about how media shapes society and want to develop both analytical and creative skills. It suits those interested in areas such as journalism, marketing, film, television, social media, advertising and digital content creation. Learners gain a strong understanding of media industries, audiences and representation, while exploring contemporary and historical media products. They will develop critical thinking, research, debate and evaluation skills, alongside practical media production experience, helping prepare them for higher education and careers in the creative, communications and media sectors.

What you need to get on

For all Sixth Form courses, students must have five GCSE (or equivalent) passes at Grades 9-4, which must include Mathematics and English Language/Literature at a Grade 4 or above. Media Studies is a highly creative subject so having a passion for media products such as magazines, gaming, radio, digital media and audio visual media such as television and film will be an asset.

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
