First and foremost, you should study History simply because you love the subject a genuine interest and passion is a must! A Level History students enjoy reading about the subject and learning new, interesting areas of study; at this level, you will have the opportunity to study specific topics in greater depth and detail than ever before. In addition, History as a subject has a fantastic reputation and it is viewed as one of the most rigorous and academic A Levels by universities. The skills you acquire, such as research skills and the ability to construct supported arguments and answers, are highly valued by both employers and universities. The Year 13 Historical Investigation (NEA) will help you prepare for university life and independent study. History feeds into a wide range of careers and professions for example law, journalism, accountancy, human resources, a wide variety of graduate schemes and, of course, teaching! The History Department is staffed by five History graduates who are all passionate about their subject.

What you need to get on

A minimum Attainment 8 score of 60. A grade 6 in GCSE English Language and Maths. A grade 6 in the subject you wish to study (or two grade 6s if you wish to study a science and took Combined Science at GCSE). Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
