What the college says
A Level History is typically studied by students who are interested in pursuing higher education in the field of History, Politics, or any other related field, or who simply have a passion for learning about the past. Edexcel A Level History course develop students interest and enthusiasm for history and an understanding of its intrinsic value and significance. Students will build on their understanding of the past through experiencing a broad and balanced course of study. They will improve as effective and independent learners, and as critical and reflective thinkers with curious and enquiring minds. History A Level course acquires an understanding of the nature of historical study, for example that history is concerned with judgements based on available evidence and that historical judgements are provisional.
