What the college says

The course aims to build on the language foundations set in place by the study of GCSE German. Pupils will gain a much deeper understanding of how the language works, building their ability to use it for speaking and listening, and reading and writing purposes. It is possible for students to take an AS in this subject. Pupils will study the following topics: Aspects of German-speaking society, Artistic culture in the German-speaking world, Multiculturalism in German-speaking society, Aspects of political life in German-speaking society and Grammar, plus one text and one film or two texts from the list set in the specification.

What you need to get on

6 GCSE/BTEC passes at Level 4 or above. It is desirable to achieve a Level 5 or above in this subject at GCSE (or a related subject).

How you are assessed

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
