Why do earthquakes occur where they do? Why don’t all volcanoes erupt the same way? How did dinosaurs become extinct? If you’re intrigued by the Earth’s structure, composition and development over time and enjoy learning in a hands-on environment, then Geology is the subject for you. A Level Geology will introduce you to the science which studies the whole Earth. It covers a range of real life geological contexts (e.g. geohazards in Britain and the evolution of flight) and the challenges that face contemporary geoscience. You will learn about Geology in a range of different contexts. The course assumes no prior experience of Geology but builds on GCSE Science concepts to develop an understanding of ideas that have both an academic and practical application.

GCSE Maths Grade 6 or above. GCSE English Grade 5 or above. GCSE Science Grade 6 or above.

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
