What the college says

If you have a particular talent for and enjoyment of Mathematics, then you should consider studying Further Mathematics. It will allow you to broaden and deepen your knowledge of Mathematics beyond the A-level Mathematics syllabus. It is of particular use to students wishing to study Mathematics, Physics or Engineering at degree level, as well as many other maths-related subjects.

What you need to get on

Grade 7 or above in GCSE mathematics. This course requires high levels of algebra, so students will also need to pass an induction test taken within the first two weeks of the course. For students taking 4 A Levels, consideration around university choices and end of Year 12 grades will determine if the full Further Maths course is studied. Please note this course must be taken alongside A Level Mathematics.

How you are assessed

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.

What this level means

The A-level-equivalent step, and what universities and employers ask for.

Is it open to 16 to 18 year olds?
