What the college says

Further Mathematics is an A level qualification which both broadens and deepens the mathematics covered in A level Mathematics. You will find it to be an enjoyable, rewarding, stimulating and empowering course. For someone who enjoys Mathematics, it provides a challenge and a chance to explore new and/or more sophisticated mathematical concepts. It also enables you to distinguish yourself as an able mathematician in the University and Employment market. In the new Further Mathematics A level, all students will be assessed based on their knowledge of Pure Mathematics and a component that is based on Applied mathematics. This Applied unit is Decision Mathematics (an area of maths not covered in the new Maths A level). The Pure unit and the Applied unit are each worth 50% of the course.
