This course is particularly aimed at students with a strong interest in pursuing mathematical subjects after A Levels such as engineering, science, computing or technology, as well as mathematics itself. If you are planning to study A Level mathematics and would like to broaden and deepen your mathematical knowledge and skills, then taking Further Mathematics alongside A Level maths may be for you. Further Mathematics is a facilitating subject which means it will also prepare you for a wide range of higher education subjects. Some universities may require Further Mathematics for entry to maths degree courses. You will need a good grasp of the topics you covered at GCSE and confidence to take your skills to another level.

What you need to get on

Sixth Form Entry Requirements: Grade 6 or better in Mathematics and English, together with a further 4 GCSE subjects at Grade 6 or better. Subject Specific Entry Requirements: Grade 8 or above in GCSE Mathematics.

How you are assessed

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
