Students who have enjoyed studying Higher Tier Maths at GCSE and have achieved a grade 7 or above should consider studying this course. Students considering Further Maths must also study Maths A level. This provides an excellent option at A level if students are considering going on to study maths at university. Further Maths makes the transition from Sixth Form to university courses, which are maths rich, that much easier as more of the first year content will be familiar. This is a challenging qualification, which both extends and deepens understanding beyond the standard A Level Maths, and provides the opportunity to explore new and more sophisticated mathematical concepts.
What you need to get on
A Level Study: To join the Sixth Form there is an entry criteria of five standard passes at GCSE (at least a Grade 4). This must include at least a Grade 4 in English Language and Maths at GCSE. Students will need to gain at least a Grade 4 in the subjects they would like to study at A Level. For biology, chemistry, physics, computer science, English literature, French, further maths, maths there are additional subject requirements, which are available upon request.
