This course is for students who love reading and discussing texts and who want to continue studying English Literature after GCSE. You'll already be familiar with some of the skills of analysis needed for A-level study, but A-level Literature will give you the opportunity to read plays, poetry and prose written by writers across the ages, from Shakespeare's 'King Lear' to Khaled Hosseini's 'The Kite Runner'. Even if you aren't aiming for further study in English Literature after leaving Ringwood, this course will give you a set of transferable skills including the ability to communicate your ideas clearly, both verbally and in writing, alongside the ability to interpret, analyse and evaluate texts and ideas.

What you need to get on

You will need a total of 11 points from your two English GCSE grades (Lang 5/Lit 6, Lang 6/Lit 5, Lang 4/Lit 7, Lit 7/Lang 4) & grade 4 in Maths

How you are assessed

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
