What the college says
This course is for students who want to continue studying English after GCSE and aims to extend students' knowledge and understaning of literary texts from a range of periods and genres and to develop a critical approach to the different techniques used by writers. You'll already be familiar with some of the topics but the A level will give you the chance to study these and some new ones in much greater depth. It's a good combination with most other subjects you can study at A level.
What you need to get on
5 GCSEs at grade 4+ and a grade 5 or above in GCSE English.
How you are assessed
Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
