English Literature encourages students to explore the relationships that exist between texts and the contexts within which they are written, received and understood. Studying texts within a shared context enables students to investigate and connect them, drawing out patterns of similarity and difference using a variety of reading strategies and perspectives. - Aspects of Tragedy Othello (Shakespeare), Death of a Salesman (Arthur Miller) and Tess of the D’Urbervilles (Thomas Hardy). 2. Texts & Genres: Political & Social Protest writing: The Kite Runner (Khaled Hosseini), The Handmaid’s Tale (Margaret Attwood) and a selection of poems by William Blake. 3. Theory & Independence: NEA (Coursework) Two essays of 1250–1500 words each.

What you need to get on

For our A Level programme, we require at five GCSEs at (5) (B) grade or above, including English language and maths. Please see our website for specific course requirements.
