This course is suitable for avid readers and creative, independent thinkers who enjoy exploring complex ideas and sharing opinions on how literature reflects human experience. It provides excellent preparation for undergraduate study and careers in media, law, education, and the creative arts. Students will develop advanced skills in critical analysis, sustained research, and sophisticated written composition. They will explore a diverse array of classic and modern prose, poetry, and drama - ranging from Shakespeare to post-2000 texts. Ultimately, they will gain the autonomy to formulate, debate, and write original literary arguments.

What you need to get on

For all Sixth Form courses, students must have five GCSE (or equivalent) passes at Grades 9-4, which must include Mathematics. For this course both GCSE English Language and GCSE English Literature must be at a Grade 5 or above.

How you are assessed

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
