Biology A-Level: Over the last 30 years the field of biology has developed more than any other science, this has been due in part to our increased knowledge in the field of molecular biology. This has allowed us to manipulate DNA and genes, so modifying organisms and potentially leading to the treatment of genetic diseases. The biology course has a broad base that prepares the student well for biology, medical and many other courses and jobs. What will I be covering in the course in Year 12? Biological Molecules. Cells. Organisms exchange substances with their environment. Genetic Information, variation and relationships between organisms. What will I be covering in the course in Year 13? Energy Transfers in and between organisms. Organisms respond to changes in their internal and external environments. Genetics, populations, evolution and ecosystems. The control of gene expression.

What you need to get on

Students choosing to study four A levels* If you wish to study four A levels you must achieve: Six GCSE's at grade 7or above. Mathematics and English at grade 6 or above. Students choosing to study three A Levels If you wish to study three A levels you must achieve: Six GCSE's at grade 6 or above. Mathematics and English at grade 5 or above. If the subject has been studied at GCSE you need to have gained a 6 in that subject.
