Biology, like all sciences, is a practical subject. Throughout the course you will carry out practical activities including:using microscopes to see cell division, dissection of animal or plant systems, aseptic technique to study microbial growth, investigating activity within cells, investigating animal behaviours, investigating distributions of species in the environment Biology is useful in a large number of careers and former students have gone on to the following: medicine, pharmacology, teaching, biochemistry, environmental management, forensic science, agriculture, sports science and food science

5 GCSE or equivalent pass at grade 4 or higher (at least one of which is in Maths or English) GCSE Combined Science Higher Grade 5 (Foundation will be considered) GCSE Biology Higher –Grade 5(Foundation will be considered) GCSE Mathematics and English—Grade 4

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
