There will be an increasing focus on understanding how Science/Biology works to appreciate the applied aspects of Biology in society. Students will be expected to demonstrate good experimental skills during their Biology course and will complete experiments set by the exam board. Topics studied at AS: Biological molecules; Cells; Exchange of substances; Genetics and relationships between organisms. Topics studied at A2: Energy transfers; How organisms respond to their environment; Populations, evolution and ecosystems; Control of gene expression.

Grade 6 in GCSE Biology OR Grade 66 in GCSE Combined Science.

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
