Students who take Biology often also study from a wide range of subjects, including Psychology, Sociology, PE, Chemistry, Science in Society, Physics, Applied Science, Health & Social Care, Critical Thinking and Environmental Studies. In the first year you’ll study three main topics: ‘biology and disease’, ‘the variety of living organisms’. There are also assessed required practical’s throughout you’re A-Level course which are designed to sharpen your investigative skills. Year two helps you build on that firm foundation and, like year one, has has 4 main sections and required practicals. The sections are ‘Energy transfer in and between organisms’, and ‘organisms responding to changes in their environment, ‘genetics, populations, evolution and ecosystems’ and ‘the control of gene expression’. There is also a synoptic essay at the end of the A-level course as part of the A-level exams.

Entry requirements: Grade 6 for Biology, 6 for Combined Science and Grade 6 for Maths
