This course is for students who want to continue studying Art and design after GCSE. You'll already be familiar with some of the skills and techniques, but the A level will give you the chance to study in more depth and develop your own particular artistic strengths and interests. It will suit you if you are creative and enjoy combining theory with lots of practical work. Even if you aren't aiming for a career in art and design, this course will give you a set of transferable skills including creativity, communication and the ability to work independently which can be useful in a range of careers. In a world where we are bombarded with visual imagery this popular endorsed A level course will take you on an exciting journey through all aspects of image making. Initially pin-hole photography and traditional processing introduces students to the magic of dark room. Subsequent digital experiments and film work contribute to a dynamic and experimental course structure. Integral to all work and progress are in-camera skills and students will continue to be challenged with a series of interesting working briefs. These are aimed at developing different technical and contextual aspects of the subject

4-5 GCSEs including English, maths and Art or an Art related subject.

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
