What the college says
The main purpose of this challenging course is to develop the ability of students to appreciate the visual world and to respond to it in a personal and creative way, relating their work to artists, their own recordings and understanding. It encourages students to think and work independently. They are given the opportunity to explore wide-ranging ideas and materials and methods through recording and a range of 2 and 3 dimensional media and materials. Commitment, determination and enthusiasm are essential.
What you need to get on
Students usually have a grade 6 or above in GCSE Art & Design or GCSE Art Photography. The Art department will consider students with a lower grade in special circumstances. Please talk to your art/photography teacher to discuss this further.
How you are assessed
Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
