The Advanced GCE in Economics has been designed to form a qualification which provides knowledge and understanding of this detailed and theoretical area. The course is examination based, and is ideal for students who want a broad background in UK and world-wide economic issues and theory which will allow them to progress to higher education, training or employment. This qualification will allow you to develop an in-depth understanding of a variety of economic-related issues, including macroeconomic policies, microeconomic problems and the influence of supply and demand in both industry and national contexts. This is a demanding course which requires students to manage their time effectively. It allows students to develop key skills in areas such as analysing data, developing strategies to drive forward both business and national economic performance and making judgements on decisions made. Employers look very favourably upon such skills to assist them in moving their industry forward, and so students are provided with the tools to enable further progression beyond A Level. An A Level in Economics provides a significant foundation for a variety of future pathways. Further study on a variety of degree courses are possible, including Economics, Business Studies and Management. It also provides detailed background knowledge and skills which can be applied to a variety of industries and employment opportunities.

What you need to get on

To study A Levels at North Chadderton you must have achieved a minimum of 5 GCSEs at Grade A -C Two of these must include English Language and Maths A minimum of Grade B in Maths is essential for this course A good school reference, attendance and behaviour record are also required, as is a positive interview There IS no expectation that students will have studied Business Studies or Economics at GCSE.
