The Preparation for Adulthood (PFA) programme, developed by the National Development Team for Inclusion (NDTi), supports young people as they transition into adult life. It focuses on four key areas: employment, good health, independent living, and friends, relationships and community inclusion. The Futures curriculum builds confidence, skills, knowledge and positive behaviours, preparing students for further education, employment or independent living within a nurturing, supportive environment. This programme is designed for students with inclusion needs who require additional support, including those not yet ready for Level 1–3 study due to prior attainment or other learning needs. It is non-accredited and assessed through RARPA, celebrating individual progress. English and Maths are included at appropriate levels, with learning carefully sequenced across the year. Curriculum areas include: Life Skills – personal finance, budgeting, cooking, shopping, growing food, travel planning, personal presentation, online safety, healthy lifestyles and relationships. Work Skills – employability, workplace behaviour, internal and external work experience, job applications, interview skills and planning next steps. Communication & Customer Service – effective communication methods, teamwork, digital communication awareness and customer service practice. What you need to get on

There are no formal entry requirements, but students should demonstrate English skills at Entry Level 3 and a willingness to learn and progress. This course is aimed at learners aged 16–18 and adults with an EHCP naming this as their chosen course. Adult learners are encouraged to contact Student Recruitment to explore suitable Level 2 or Adult English and Maths pathways before progressing.
