Further maths is a course that is designed to extend and challenge the more able mathematicians at the college. It is traditionally taken as an extra to your other A Level courses and would be advantageous if you were considered studying Mathematics at university. The aim of the course is to broaden mathematical knowledge and parts of the course are more complex than the traditional A level and to give students a taste of first year degree maths.

What you need to get on

College Entry Requirements: Minimum of 5 good grades at GCSE, including English and maths at a strong pass. Subject Specific Requirements: A grade 8 or above in GCSE mathematics is needed to follow this course. You must also be studying A level mathematics. Prior Knowledge: A strong grasp of algebra is essential as is the ability to be self-motivated. You will need to have good time management skills and will have to undertake independent study to be successful.

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
