Extended Project

What the college says
Why carry out an EPQ? It provides an opportunity for students to extend their abilities beyond the A Level syllabus, stand out and prepare for university or their future career. Students perform individual research and write a 5,000 word essay on a topic which interests them; often a topic related to your proposed course of study at university, or produce an artefact accompanied by a 1000 word report.
What you need to get on
Students with combinations of subjects including large coursework elements should consider this option in Year 12 instead of Year 13.
How you are assessed
Entry level and Level 1 study, English and maths retakes, and supported programmes.
What this level means
The A-level-equivalent step, and what universities and employers ask for.
Is it open to 16 to 18 year olds?
Approved for 16 to 18 study on the government's Section 96 list.
