Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) The EPQ is a self-motivated project that carries the same UCAS points as an AS level, and is increasingly popular with students - over 30,000 did it in 2013. A project topic may be directly related to a student's main study programme, but should look beyond the specification. A finished product may take the form of a: research based written report production* (e.g. charity event, fashion show or sports event etc.) an artefact* (e.g. piece of art, a computer game or realised design). *A written report must accompany these options. Getting an EPQ is a long process and involves support from a supervisor, who is normally a teacher. It requires self-discipline and independent research on a topic of your own choice, so is seen as a good option for people who want to stand out and get into a top university.

This qualification would be studied in addition to the three 'main' A Levels.
