What the college says

The Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) is a fantastic opportunity for students to complete some independent research, which allows them to develop a wide range of skills that are sought after by universities, apprenticeships and employees. It is a stand-alone qualification of which UCAS points equal half an A Level, it is designed to develop students skills in independent research and project management. The EPQ allows students to extend and build on their personal interests as well as their areas of study, to complete a project which relates to their future aspirations. The EPQ can take the form of an essay or an artefact and is 100% evidence based, meaning there are no exams. An example of an essay based project is Assess the importance of seagrass in today's changing climate of the UK and an example of an artefact project is Learning to create a culturally accurate Bavarian dirndl and evaluate the quality and traditional aspects of the final Tracht product. The self-directed project requires students to take responsibility for the choice, design, planning and completion of their project.
