English Literature Level 3 A Level

What the college says

An A level course in English Literature involves the close study of a range of texts, to include both pre-twentieth and twentieth century literature. Texts will cover all three genres: prose, poetry and drama. Students will consider them in terms of their social, cultural and historical background as well as looking critically at their language and structure. The texts are chosen to give students a breadth of experience and to provoke thought and discussion. Students will be expected to speak rather than just to listen; to consider and debate, rather than just to accept original writing.
