Class time will be spent on active tasks such as discussions to build on the reading and preparation you will have done in advance. As a follow-up to lessons you will craft discursive essays and research-based investigations. There are two examined units - Love Through the Ages and Texts in Shared Contexts. The final unit is Independent Critical Study - Texts Across Time, which is decided by non-exam assessment.

What you need to get on

All students entering the Sixth Form to undertake a 3 A Level Programme must have secured 5 GCSE grades at 4 or above. It is expected that all students will achieve a GCSE grade 4 or higher in GCSE Mathematics. For English Literature it is essential that you gain at least a grade 5 GCSE in either English Language or English Literature, with a minimum of a grade 4 being achieved in the other English subject.
