The course will require you to develop an overview of different literary movements from the end of the 16th century onwards. You will study texts as examples of specific literary periods, both exploring them individually, and also to compare and contrast them. It is essential that you devote time to reading literature other than the texts specified by the course in order to develop the breadth of your own critical understanding.
