This specification offers the opportunity for students to develop their subject expertise by engaging creatively and critically with a wide range of texts and discourses. There is a focus on different ways in which texts can be read, connected and written about. Additionally, the students will be reading and writing about texts through the lens of: Aspects of Tragedy or Aspects of Comedy; Elements of Crime or Elements of Political and Social Protest Writing. Students are encouraged to become independent in their reading and, equally importantly, in their thinking. This will therefore, undoubtedly, develop their wider reading skills and enable them to engage with critical ideas and literary theory.
