Economics A level is a 2 year course which is a challenging and exciting subject which applies economic theory to support analysis of current economic problems and issues, and encourage students to appreciate the interrelationships between microeconomics and macroeconomics. Content takes into account fundamental advances and changes in economic ideas such as behavioural economics, importance of financial markets and development economics, so that students can relate what they are learning to the world around them. Students will develop to have an enquiring, critical and thoughtful approach to the study of economics and develop an ability to think as an economist. The course is made up of 4 themes: The Operation of markets and market failure; The National Economy in a Global Context; Individuals, firms, markets and market failure and Individuals, firms, markets and market failure.

What you need to get on

Holds a minimum of five 9-4 GCSE qualifications and Grade 5 in Mathematics GCSE and Grade 6 in English Literature or English Language.

How you are assessed

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
