Economics is defined as the social science concerned with the production and consumption of goods and services. In it we study the allocation of scarce or finite resources in contrast to the unlimited wants of mankind. Thus it involves the study of the activities of buyers, sellers, producers, government and other groups and their interactions.

What you need to get on

5 A*-B GCSEs, including a B in Maths and English. It also needs commitment, motivation and a genuine interest in the subject. You do not need to have studied Business at GCSE.

How you are assessed

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
