What the college says
This one-year, full time course is ideal for those wanting to take the first steps towards becoming an electrician. You will spend your time equally between the workshops and the classroom, learning both the practical side of electrical installation whilst also studying the technical content of the course. This programme of study is for one year and upon completion, you will be awarded a full Level 2 qualification in electrical installation. From here you will be eligible to find work as an electrician's assistant/mate or progress on to the Level 3 qualification.
What you need to get on
Grade 4 or above in English Language, Maths and Science and at least one other GCSE at grade 4.
How you are assessed
Learning a trade with tools and equipment, often in a college workshop or salon.
What this level means
The GCSE-equivalent step, and the usual route into Level 3.
